Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering and Effective Field Theory: Including Pions Non-perturbatively
نویسنده
چکیده
Next to leading order effective field theory calculations are performed for S0 NN scattering using subtractive renormalization procedure. One pion exchange and contact interaction potentials are iterated using Lippman-Schwinger equation. Satisfactory fit to the Nijmegen data is obtained for the momenta up to 300 MeV in the centre of mass frame. Phase shifts are also compared with the results of KSW approach where pions are included perturbatively. 03.65.Nk, 11.10.Gh, 12.39.Fe, 13.75.Cs. Typeset using REVTEX 1

The NN scattering 3 S 1 − 3 D 1 mixing angle at NNLO
The S1−D1 mixing angle for nucleon-nucleon scattering, ǫ1, is calculated to next-to-next-to-leading order in an effective field theory with perturbative pions. Without pions, the low energy theory fits the observed ǫ1 well for momenta less than ∼ 50 MeV. Including pions perturbatively significantly improves the agreement with data for momenta up to ∼ 150 MeV with one less parameter. Furthermore...
متن کاملThe Two-Nucleon Sector with Effective Field Theory
I present the results obtained for several observables in the two-nucleon sector using effective field theory with KSW power-counting and dimensional regularization. In addition to the phase shifts for nucleon-nucleon scattering, several deuteron observables are discussed, including electromagnetic form factors, polarizabilities, γd → γd Compton scattering, and np → dγ. A detailed comparison be...
متن کاملThe S Wave Pion Deuteron Scattering Length in Effective Field Theory
The S wave pion deuteron scattering length is presented at NLO in the Effective Field Theory formulation of the two nucleon system with perturbative pions. At this order, this observable is determined by the iso-scalar S wave pion nucleon scattering length a+, by pion re-scattering contributions inside the deuteron and by two nucleon two pion contact interactions that involve two unknown parame...
متن کاملNNLO Corrections to Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering and Perturbative Pions
The S0, S1, and D1 nucleon-nucleon scattering phase shifts are calculated at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in an effective field theory. Predictions for the P1, P0,1,2, D2, and D2,3 phase shifts at this order are also compared with data. The calculations treat pions perturbatively and include the NNLO contributions from order Qr and Q 4 r radiation pion graphs. In the S1, D1, and P0,2 ch...
متن کاملNucleon-Nucleon Effective Field Theory Without Pions
Nuclear processes involving momenta much below the mass of the pion may be described by an effective field theory in which the pions do not appear as explicit degrees of freedom. The effects of the pion and all other virtual hadrons are reproduced by the coefficients of gauge-invariant local operators involving the nucleon field. Nucleon-nucleon scattering phase shift data constrains many of th...
